Last season, Genoa returned to Serie A after one year of absence. The team from Liguria played better than most expected, finishing 11th on the table with a massive 14 points more than the relegation zone. Genoa would be delighted if they repeat such a result in the 2024/25 season, too.

This summer, Genoa left a few players, including Mateo Retegui and Josep Martinez, who had a big role in last year's success. On the other hand, Genoa signed permanent deals with Vitinha, Koni De Winter, Morten Thorsby, and Emil Bohinen. All of them were on loans last season in Genoa. The only signings worth mentioning this summer are Piotr Zielinski (who came from Napoli), Josep Martinez (Genoa), and Mehdi Taremi (Porto).
