The last two seasons were tough for Verona as they both times barely escaped relegation. Last year, Verona finished with only three points more than the drop zone and will surely look up for a less stressful 2024/25 season. 

Verona can be very satisfied with the preseason as they finished with three wins from four matches. However, the first defeat this summer for Paolo Zanetti's team came last weekend, when Verona surprisingly lost 2-1 at home in Coppa Italia against Cesena. 

Last year, Napoli failed to repeat its success from 2022/23 and defend the title. Actually, the team from South Italy had one of the worst years in the 21st century, finishing tenth on the table. Napoli is one of the most respected Serie A teams, and they will surely look forward to returning to where they think they belong - to the top four of Italian football. 

Napoli's preseason was impressive, too, as they won four of five matches. However, like Verona, Antonio Conte's team had big problems in Coppa Italia last weekend, as Napoli needed penalties to beat Modena.

The gap between Verona and Napoli is big. Last year, the club from Naples won both games against Verona. We should expect Conte's team to start the season with a win on Sunday, as they are a much better side right now.
